Welcome to the Doctoral student network digital lunch seminar, 12:00-12:30, 6 May

Second out is David Blekhman, Professor of Technology at California State University Los Angeles and Technical Director of Hydrogen Research and Fueling Facility, is an expert in the field of hydrogen infrastructure. He has been selected as a 2019-2020 Fulbright Distinguished Chair of Alternative Energy Technology and is conducting research at the Department of Mechanics and Maritime Sciences at Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden.

In this lunch seminar David Blekhman will talk about Moving Towards Hydrogen Integrated Economy

About David Blekhman

“My older son and Greta are of the same age. At this age our kids are already old enough to tell us that we are not leaving them the world in a pristine condition. Rapid climate change, multiple sites of human operation, and rampant exploitation of the Earth’s resources are the drivers for finding solutions that are more humane. Hydrogen is one of the pathways we are exploring to address these challenges. Hydrogen has its positive properties as well as challenges. But it certainly is and will be the technology of interest. Following the California leadership of the past twenty years, Japan, Korea, Germany and others have been rapidly developing their hydrogen infrastructure. California State University Los Angeles operates it own Hydrogen Research and Fueling Facility. Using electrolysis, the station produces hydrogen onsite from renewable energy sources. Using electrolysis also enables future research into energy demand-response and energy storage strategies. Hydrogen station has also participated in multi-year data collection, hydrogen safety workshops, and equipment deployment in collaboration with national laboratories. As the largest university campus hydrogen fueling installation in the nation, facility is actively engaged in research and demonstration projects, community outreach and available to fueling hydrogen vehicles operated by the public. The lecture will share principles of hydrogen fueling and research into the Scandinavian hydrogen infrastructure.”
