SUMMARY:Electromobility and the grid
DESCRIPTION:This seminar includes presentations from two research projects focused on different aspects of vehicle grid interaction. The seminar is taking place in Room M:C at Lund University (campus Lund) and online. \n  \nPotential Impact of Electric Vehicles Connected to the Grid-A Pre-Study for the Swedish Power System\nLina Bertling Tjernberg\, Professor in Power Grid Technology at KTH the Royal Institute of Technology and Deputy Head of the school at the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. \nAbstract: This talk will present results from a pre-study analyzing the potential of Vehicle to Grid(V2G). A scenario is investigated quantifying the amount of energy that can be injected into the grid if all the power generation is shut down and the country has to survive on the power pushed back by the EVs into the grid assuming that reactive power compensation is present to maintain the stability of the grid. Results show analytical calculations on the number of hours the current EV fleet can help sustain the grid in case of a blackout. The results obtained can be utilized for the modeling of emergency plans in grid operation in case of a partial failure. \nCoordinated management of heterogenous EV chargers: From theoretical algorithms to practical demonstration\nMattia Marinelli\, Professor in E-mobility in energy Systems and Head of the PhD School at DTU Wind and Energy Systems\, DTU (Denmark). \nAbstract: As electric vehicle integration matures\, the challenge shifts from simple connectivity to the sophisticated management of heterogeneous charging assets. This presentation shares key practical results from the EU project EV4EU\, focusing on the aggregation of distributed chargers to provide a grid-optimal charging experience and essential grid services. We analyse the operational performance of control algorithms validated through real-world demonstration activities. The talk concludes by bridging these findings to the upcoming activities of the EU project AHEAD\, specifically addressing the integration of slow multi-brand infrastructure and the deployment of battery-buffered fast charging systems. \nThe seminar is motivated by the PhD defence of Alice Callanan (née Jansson) on 13 May 9:00\, where Professor Bertling Tjernberg is the faculty opponent and Professor Marinelli is in the examination committee.
