Together we create the electromobility of the future

Swedish Electromobility Centre aims to generate knowledge within the field of electromobility, to build the foundation for a sustainable society where it is possible to stay mobile and at the same time make environmentally conscious choices.

Together we create the electromobility of the future. Together we create sustainmobility.

INTELLIGENT VEHICLES AND SYSTEMS

Intelligent Vehicles and Systems develops methods and algorithms, which are adopted and utilized in hybrid (and)or electric vehicle setting by exploiting dynamic models, computational methods, and simulation techniques. Our main topics are mathematical modelling, dynamic simulation, performance analysis, control design and optimization.

ELECTRIC DRIVES AND CHARGING

Theme Electrical machines, drive systems and charging is a competence base for technologies related to electric energy transfer and conversion between the electric utility grid and the wheels of electric vehicles. This includes charging equipment, the traction system, and auxiliary systems on board the vehicles.

ENERGY STORAGE

Energy for electromobility is stored in electrochemical cells, such as batteries or fuel cells. For sustainable storage, economically and environmentally viable cells with long lifetime need to be developed, with even better performance than today’s materials and systems. Therefore, we focus on optimizing the key factors preventing ageing and sustaining health of the energy storage.

ENVIRONMENT AND SOCIETY

Theme area Electromobility in society investigates the electrified vehicle from a societal and environmental perspective. The research gather data and analyzes drive patterns, different actors influence, governance and other requirements for vehicles and infrastructure, for different types of transport services.

VEHICLE-GRID INTERACTION

In the theme area Interaction between vehicles and grid we investigate the challenges and possibilities with an electrified transport sector. The research investigates how the electric power system is affected and how it can be controlled. It also looks into how the transports acts as a load; how much power that is required and when and where and what requirements the transports will have on the power system and vice versa.

Our centre of excellence transfer spearhead research to its everyday use in society.

OUR DOCTORAL STUDENT NETWORK

Are you a PhD student in the field of emobility? The Swedish Electromobility Centre’s doctoral student network is open for all PhD students in Sweden who study aspects of electrification and hybridization of vehicles. The network is an arena for collaboration for PhD students and stimulates their interaction with the Swedish automotive industry.
