Call for projects within Swedish Electromobility Centre
Call and evaluation of project proposals
Swedish Electromobility Centre is a node for research and development of electric transport and charging infrastructure. Our driving force is the development of sustainable and energy efficient transportation. We perform industry relevant research and study different e-mobility technologies to assess their potential. Swedish Electromobility Centre is founded by the Swedish Energy Agency in partnership with Swedish automotive industry and academia.
The centre carries out research within System studies and methods, Electrical machines and drives, Energy storage, Electromobility in society and Vehicle to grid. Swedish Electromobility Centre finances three types of projects, see “Project information”.
In this call we will finance:
- 10 PhD-projects,max three years with up to 3 MSEKper project.
- Feasibility studies for larger projectswith up to 200 kSEK per project
Next call, to be announced mid-spring 2020, will finance Studies and Cross-thematic projects.
The projects should be within the scope of one or more thematic areas and contribute to the centre as a whole and every project must include at least one industrial partner. The projects should be co-financed with more or equal amounts in-kind as the funding from the SEC amounts to. All projects must be finished by 30 June 2023 when the centre’s fourth stage closes.

- Contribute to the objectives in the centre
- Efficiency for the theme and the centre
- Quality on the application
- Beneficial for the industry and academy
- Close exchange with industry partners. One example is that the industry partner hosts a PhD student for some months of the project
- Planned publications in the project
The projects applications will be reviewed by the full partners and the program partners of the centre and the recommendation of funding will then be decided by the program council with representatives from our full partners AB Volvo, Chalmers University of Technology, KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Linköping University, Lund University, CEVT, Scania CV AB, Volvo Car Corporation and Uppsala University.
Any of our partner can apply for funding but the funding should be financing academic researchers. All partner organisations can take part in the proposed project activities. The total number of financed projects will be about 15-20 depending on their budget. Upon financing the “Project manager agreement” will be signed by the project manager.
Please also note that regular knowledge exchange is an essential part of the centre and its projects. If your project is granted, you are expected to arrange workshops/seminars and take part in thematic activities.
The centre has currently very few female researchers and PhD students. We welcome all project applications but hope to include more female researchers in our network, so please do not hesitate to send in an application.
Time and budget frame
Duration (max): 1 March 2020 – 30 June 2023.
Budget frame: Max 3-year PhD project and 1 MSEK/year.
Feasibility studies max 200 000 SEK.

The projects should be applied for by using the center’s application template “Project application”. You have the possibility to include one appendix (max 3 pages) with images and tables, supporting the project description. Send to application@emobilitycentre.se and mark the mail with “Project application”.
