Welcome to SEC PhD Student Course on Hybrid Electric Powertrains – Modeling, Control, and Optimization (4.0 hp) with professor Lars Eriksson, Linköping University.

Are you passionate about electromobility and eager to deepen your expertise in vehicle energy optimization? This advanced PhD-level course is designed for engineers and researchers looking to master hybrid electric powertrains. Through a combination of theoretical knowledge and hands-on assignments, you’ll gain essential skills in system modeling, energy analysis, and control optimization. By the end of the course, you’ll be able to analyze vehicle energy consumption, evaluate the impact of design parameters, model hybrid electric configurations, and develop optimal energy management strategies using Deterministic Dynamic Programming.

The curriculum includes pre-recorded lectures, interactive Q&A sessions, and two project-based assignments where you’ll implement real-world analysis tools and optimize hybrid powertrain performance. Open to PhD students within the Swedish Electromobility Centre (SEC) and industry professionals from partner companies, this course demands dedication and active participation. A Master’s degree in engineering and familiarity with Matlab/Simulink are required.

Please note that the course will start on January 18, 2027, and will run full-time for three weeks.

The course is free for SEC doctoral network affiliated PhD students, while SEC industry partner participants can join for a fee.
