PhD Network webinar – Towards Electrified Freight: Coordination and Resource Dependencies in Emerging Ecosystems

2 September,13:00-14:00

The transition toward electrified freight transport is essential for achieving climate targets, yet progress remains slow due to high costs, infrastructural constraints, and organizational complexity.

This webinar explores how large-scale electrification depends not only on technological advancements, but on the ability to coordinate activities, align incentives, and connect resources across the logistics and energy systems. In emerging electrified ecosystems, new coordination logics are required to synchronise transport operations, charging infrastructure, and energy supply.

By focusing on inter-organisational dependencies and mechanisms for resource sharing, the session provides insights into how actors can collectively organise, combine capabilities, and overcome systemic barriers to enable scalable electrified freight systems.

Bio

Henrik Gillström is an Associate Professor in sustainable logistics whose research centres on the electrification of freight transport. His work explores how emerging electric transport systems reshape actor roles, business models, and inter-organisational collaboration. Taking a system-level perspective, he studies how coordination and resource integration across logistics and energy sectors can enable the large-scale transition to sustainable freight systems.
